Section One: Theology
I've decided to post my notes on this book, "Understanding the Times" by David Noebel. Just in case anyone else is interested. The first section is labelled Theology, and it compares the Theology of Leninism/Marxism, Humanism, and Chritianity. I myself have added The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to my list in order for me to compare my own religion. As I finish each section I will come here and put up my condensed notes for anyone who's interested. It's really interesting, since I never really understood the differences between Biblical Christianity and Mormonism before. So sorry for the HUGE entry, I tried extending it, but it didn't work. *sigh* Section One: TheologyPart I. Leninism/Marxism Part II. Secular Humanism Cosmic Humanism(New Age) Part III. Biblical Christianity Part IV. Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints -Heavenly Father oversaw the creation. He answers our prayers and knows all things that will happen. He gives revelation to man, he has done so and continues to do so. -Jesus Christ- Created the earth under the supervision of the Father. Suffered for our sins in Gethsemane, Died on the cross, and was resurrected. He is the Savior and our Brother. Jesus Christ will be the judge at the last day. -Holy Ghost- Holy Ghost is recieved through baptism and confirmation. He is our guide. Through him we can recieve personal revelation from God. He is the comforter. There you have it. Interesting eh? I have to admit, I'm really enjoying this book. It's mind expanding. Tune in later for more comparisons on philosophy, ethics, politics etc. posted by Tamra at 10:03 AM
