What is your worldview?
Do you have a worldview? What is a worldview? Well, David Noebel in his book, Understanding the Times, the Religious Worldviews of Our Day and the Search for Truth, states "A worldview is any ideology, philosophy, theology, movement, or religion that provides an overarching approach to understanding God, the world, and man's relations to God and the world." So...do you have a worldview? I guess I fall into the Biblical Christian category WRT to this book, though most biblical Christians wouldn't regard me as such. I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. My worldview is pretty well defined. I believe that God created man in his own image and that man's relationship to god is to repent of all sins, be baptised by immersion, and return to his presence. I believe that through Jesus Christ all men are saved in that all are resurrected, but I also believe that through the atonement of Jesus Christ I too can become exalted and be an Eternal Mother, rearing spirit children of my own who will in turn be tried in a mortal existence. In essence I believe that I too may become a Goddess. As you can see, this worldview of mine greatly affects how I view the world in general and how I make decisions. Each choice I make I base on this view and it is definately my ultimate goal. All I do in my life I view as part of achieving this goal. How about you? Do you have a worldview? If not, maybe you can read this book with me and get one :-) Except this book is HONKIN' HUGE! LOL 891 page textbook. Am I in a religion class you ask? Why no, I am reading this book for my own edification and in persuit for knowledge and truth. I have to admit it does seem daunting. Oh and by the way, if you want to comment and tell me know what your world view is, please avoid trashing mine, as it is mine, and I own it, and would be displeased. But feel free to share yours with me, I'd love to hear about your life philosophies and religions! posted by Tamra at 04:47 PM
CommentsWhat an interesting topic! I enjoy reading about LDS beliefs, and you might be horrified to hear this, but it actually lead me (in part) to Paganism! lol! I've always believe in One God, Creator. But as a teenager I struggled to get a real grip and understanding of many tenets of Christianity. A few years ago I made friends with an LDS woman and went to church with her family for a few months, and also visited with some Elders. (I think that's the term for your missionaries, right? I forget.) Anyway, one of them pointed out that if I just read the Book of Mormon, that the truth would come to me. I had to accept that and to accept what happened to Joesph Smith in order to... Well, I don't know, see the truth? Anyway, I realized I couldn't do that because I wasn't even sure about the Bible. *sigh* I'm totally off on a tangent. I love the idea that we can become Gods and Goddesses, raising spirit children. I strive to make the world a better place for all mankind. I hope to be delivered into the Bosom of the Deity when I pass from the Earth and that my efforts are rewarded. Maybe I wont make it to the highest level of exaultation or grace, but I can only do my best, right? Posted by: LauraTA on August 9, 2003 12:05 AM

You do pay a price for stating it simply, namely it's easier for the professionals to misunderstand it. Posted by: free texas holdem on September 22, 2004 05:09 AM
If a man were to say he chose something impossible he would be thought a fool; but we can wish for things that are impossible, for instance immortality. Posted by: texas holdem rule on September 22, 2004 05:11 AM

Socrates is a doer of evil, who corrupts the youth; and who does not believe in the gods of the state, but has other divinities of his own. Such is the charge. Posted by: free online casino on October 10, 2004 02:07 AM
