What's so wrong with ballet?

My seven year old son is in ballet. He loves it! He is in a class with girls aged 8-12 yrs and he started in the class at age 6. He works hard at it, and I'm very proud of how much effort he puts into it.

He takes clogging as well, but has decided that he has too much on his plate so he is only going to take ballet next year. Today during clogging class one of the moms was talking to another mom about the recital. She was talking about a song listed on the roster and said "Oh that's not a clogging number that's a ballet *insert eye roll here* number." I corrected her and said, "actually it is a clogging number. I know because my son is in it. He's in ballet as well. He's the only boy this year." She says "That's because "most boys" wouldn't be caught dead in a pair of tights. heh heh heh"

OH MY GOSH!!! For one, Xan doesn't wear tights yet, and for two HOW RUDE! After that she went on and on about men in tights and how wrong it is etc. Her son's would never wear those etc. to the other mom. I was trying hard to ignore them but it was difficult. She then mentioned that boys would be ridiculed in high school. Keep in mind this is a HOMESCHOOL dance studio! I said "My boys won't have to deal with that since they are homeschooled and will be all through high school. My son is good at ballet, in fact he's dropping clogging next year, and if he wants to be a dancer than he can be if he wants to" She kind of laughed under breath and rolled her eyes again. Oh my goodness! I am a kind person but the thoughts that were roiling in my brain!****edited to remove my evil thoughts which of course somehow found their way to this person who has been deeply hurt by it and I'm very sorry.*****But hey, there's the clincher. I don't really care right? So I didn't say anything. Because I'm a kind person.....I AM a kind person *sigh* and tactful too. Why do I have this burden LOL

Well, there's nothing wrong with ballet! So there! :-P ahhh now I've got the childishness out of the system. :-D
